Macs are reliable, but when one fails the files inside – photos, projects, business documents – are often not backed up. Data Doctor has recovered data from Apple computers for over 20 years, from vintage PowerBooks to the latest MacBook Pro. All work is done in-house at our Central London lab near London Bridge, starting with a free initial consultation.
We recover data from iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook, Mac mini and Mac Pro, plus older PowerBook and iBook models, iPods and iPads.
A note on newer Macs: Macs with the T2 chip or Apple silicon store data on soldered, encrypted flash storage. Recovery is only possible if the logic board can be made to work again – which our engineers do through component-level logic board repair. Find your model on our Mac laptop page, and the earlier we see the machine the better. Read about T2 Mac data recovery.
Many of our Mac clients are photographers, designers, architects and video editors, where a single failed drive can hold months of work. We recover Final Cut Pro and Premiere libraries, Lightroom and Photos catalogues, Logic projects, Adobe files and large RAW collections, and we understand how these applications store their data. If you work from external drives or a RAID enclosure attached to your Mac, we recover those too – see G-Technology and LaCie drive recovery.
Often, yes. On older models we remove and recover the drive. On T2 and Apple silicon Macs we need to get the logic board working, which is possible in many cases.
Frequently, if the Mac has not been used much since. Newer SSD-based Macs use TRIM, so stop using the Mac and contact us quickly.
Yes, where the device can be made to power on. Contact us with the model and the fault for advice.
Logical recoveries start at £99 + VAT and physical recovery of a single drive is £450 + VAT plus any donor drive. Macs with soldered storage are quoted after diagnosis. The initial consultation is free. See our price list.
