About Drobo Business SAN

Drobo’s business range connects to servers over iSCSI and often holds VMware datastores or Windows server volumes. When a unit fails, both BeyondRAID and the volumes stored inside it must be rebuilt before any files can be read.

We handle both layers, then extract virtual machines or files and check them before returning your data.

How we recover your data

Drobo units use BeyondRAID, Drobo’s own way of spreading data across disks of different sizes. It isn’t standard RAID, so ordinary RAID tools can’t rebuild it. We image every disk, then reconstruct the BeyondRAID layout and the file system from the images. Drobo products have been discontinued and the company behind them entered bankruptcy in 2023, so there is no manufacturer support – specialist recovery is the only option when a pack fails.


Prices

  • Initial consultation: Free – tells you whether the fault is physical or logical and the best recovery method. Doesn’t include opening the drive in a clean room or any recovery attempt.
  • RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10: £850 + VAT to £1,500 + VAT – depending on the number of drives to repair and rebuild.
