About G-RAID with Thunderbolt

G-RAID units hold two drives, usually set up as RAID 0 for speed – which means both drives are needed to read anything. They’re widely used by video editors and photographers working directly from the drive.

When one drive fails, or the enclosure stops working, we image both drives, repair any physical faults and rebuild the RAID in software. See also G-RAID Removable recovery.

How we recover your data

Every job starts with a free initial consultation. We open the enclosure, test the drive or drives inside and, for physical faults, carry out a clean room diagnostic. Failed drives are repaired with matched donor parts, imaged, and – for dual-drive models – the RAID is rebuilt in software before your files are checked and returned.

Prices

Initial consultation: Free – tells you whether the fault is physical or logical and the best recovery method. Doesn’t include opening the drive in a clean room or any recovery attempt.
Clean room diagnostic: £79 + VAT – the drive is opened in our clean room to identify the damaged parts.
Physical data recovery on a single drive: £450 + VAT – labour, plus the cost of a donor drive if required.
RAID 0: £650 + VAT
